Our Impact
As the premier youth development organization in Hartford, we touch the lives of nearly 1 in every 3 children in Hartford Public Schools.
Through membership and community outreach, we serve more than 9,000 youth annually through programs focused on academic enrichment, character and leadership development and healthy lifestyles.

Our team of staff and volunteers impact the lives of more than 10,000 kids and teens in Hartford. We are dedicated to providing a positive environment and a pathway to opportunities and life-changing programs.
Our Locations
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford provide families with convenient, safe neighborhood-based locations. We operate five full-service clubs in Hartford as well as four public school-based sites in Hartford and Bloomfield and an Early Learning Center.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford is the birthplace of the nationwide Boys & Girls Club movement.
The country’s first Club, the Dashaway Club, was founded in Hartford in 1860 when four women, Mary Goodwin, Alice Goodwin, Elizabeth Hammersley and Louisa Bushnell, believed that boys who roamed the streets should have a positive, healthy place to live and grow.
From its humble beginnings, Boys & Girls Clubs has grown to become the largest youth organization in America, serving more than 4.6 million young people in over 4,738 clubs nationwide.
Today, nearly 160 years later, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford still builds the values, character and and skills our youth need to succeed in in the 21st Century. We provide academic assistance, leadership development, access to technology and exposure to colleges and careers to build GREAT Futures.
